A Cosmic Event

The Moon! The Moon! Everybody is talking about it. If you do not know why everybody is talking about it, I can help. The Blue Moon is rising on May 31st. However, this Blue Moon is not your ordinary Blue Moon – not that Blue Moons are considered ordinary.

This Blue Moon, the one rising in Sagittarius on May 31st, is considered a cosmic event, one that does not pass through your life without leaving something different in you. Yes, you read that correctly – it does not pass through your life without leaving something different in you.

Now, bear in mind, Sagittarius is the astrological sign of meaning, faith and the bigger story your life is telling. The Blue Moon in this sign asks you to look honestly at where you have lost your sense of possibility and to be radically honest about where you have been settling, staying small or operating out of fear.

Granted, many of us are inundated with a constant barrage of negative news and may be feeling overwhelmed and out of balance. While I do not profess to be an astrologer, I do know a thing or two about navigating energy and guiding one through a challenging period of time. We also have Sagittarius, the truth-seeking archer of the zodiac, to help along the way.

This Blue Moon, Sagittarius and I invite you to be radically honest with yourself, especially now, as now is the ideal time to shatter your limiting stories. This Blue Moon is also a micro moon, meaning the moon is near its farthest point from Earth in its orbit. It appears slightly smaller and quieter than a regular full moon. Its energy is more subtle, more introspective, more focused, rather than the overwhelming brightness of a super-moon. It is not a diminishment. It is a different kind of power.

You may prepare yourself by focusing on slowing down, assessing or reassessing your goals, and giving thought to the truths you want to confront and the fears you are ready to release. Focus then on what it looks like for you to move forward into the life you truly want.

Clear out distractions, center your focus and know you are embarking on new opportunities. If you journal, write about that which you want to release and that which you will welcome back into the fold. If you have been waiting for the right time to forgive something or someone that has haunted you for years (or even decades) and are serious about letting go of something that has been sucking your energy dry, this Blue Moon of May 31st is your moment.

(The Blue Moon will peak at 4:45 am EDT, so buckle up, buttercups.)
